Non-government organizations operating in the country estimate the death toll due to weekend violence as high as 65. According to these sources, hitherto unheard of barabaric acts were committed, incluiding stabbings and stoning to death. Security officers and officials were also detained over security lapses, according to Dr Negeri. He said peace has been restored in the areas following the efforts made in collaboration with the youth and residents.
