The woman consulted the River Oda, conceived, and successfully gave birth. Reflecting on the breakthrough, she reportedly said, “Asuo Oda amma me ampon,” meaning “River Oda kept me from miscarriage.” This expression eventually evolved into the name Amaniampong. Amaniampong was a prominent chief commander who lived during the reign of Opemsuo Osei Tutu I, the founder of the Asante Kingdom. Otumfuo noted that during the war, Nana Opemsuo Osei Tutu I and Boahen Anantuo both died.
