[Elvis Ogina, Standard]History is replete with religious and political leaders announcing warring crusades or pronouncing fatwas against Muslims, Christians, blacks, the sick, differently abled and women. Identity based discrimination and violence attacks the very spine of the Kenyan nation. It doesn’t matter whether it is against elderly, persons with disabilities, the poor, the hungry, the homeless or sexual minorities. This heterosexist bias forgets that lesbians, gays, bisexual, trans-gender, and queers are also students, parents, teachers, police officers, civil servants, politicians, Christians, and Muslims. This current mobilisation is not a model for the nation we are today.
