Speaker Trevor Mallard, who chairs the committee, had earlier released the legal advice that was used by the committee on Matthews’ removal. But Matthews’ lawyer Mary Scholtens has argued that a loss of confidence doesn’t meet the statutory threshold to remove Matthews as auditor-general.
