Bright portrays himself in the 89-page complaint as an administration health official trying to sound the alarm about the virus beginning in early January. HHS issued a brief comment on Tuesday afternoon that did not directly address Bright’s allegations. Bright’s lawyers are requesting that HHS reinstate him as BARDA director while his complaint is investigated. BARDA officials raised concerns over the donation because of a lack of evidence over the drug’s safety or efficacy. Others, however, said BARDA was moving too slowly on covid-19 treatments and vaccines, and that the agency had problems that predated this crisis.
