Controversial federal MP Craig Kelly has temporarily been banned from Facebook after spreading misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic. Mr Kelly confirmed he has been banned for repeated violations of Facebook's community standards and described it as a 'dark day for freedom of speech'. 'We don't allow anyone to share misinformation about COVID-19 that could lead to imminent physical harm,' a Facebook statement read. He has previously denied he was spreading misinformation, claiming Newcastle University Professor Robert Clancy supported the use of hydroxychloroquine, a controversial drug which has been discredited as an effective treatment. The host also told Mr Kelly he was in a position of authority and was 'failing in that duty'.
