More than a million people in their mid-30s will get a text message in the coming days inviting them to come forward for their Covid vaccine, NHS England said. The vaccination programme is also set to extend to people in their early thirties "over the next few days and weeks", it added. The plans reportedly suggest that vaccines could be offered to all over-18s within five weeks, which is a month ahead of government targets. Experts had advised that people under 40 should receive an alternative vaccine to the AstraZeneca jab due to the link between the jab and extremely rare cases of blood clots.
