Recommendations emerging from his research were discussed in policy deliberations and included in disaster preparedness plans and, most importantly, local disaster risk management actions. U-INSPIRE is the new Asian platform for youth participation and leadership in disaster risk reduction (DRR). Since 2018, Glenn has been an Associate Professor at the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR), Sichuan University – Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Glenn is a Young Scientist of the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk Program (IRDR), which is co-sponsored by the International Science Council (ISC) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). In conferring the Presidential Pamana ng Pilipino Award to Dr. Glenn F. Fernandez, the President recognizes his outstanding contributions to disaster risk management and for being the leading champion of evidence-based youth participation in disaster risk reduction in the Philippines and Asia.
