Horrified witnesses reported seeing a "bloodbath" and hearing screams as the dog mauled passers-by 'at random.' The dog was reportedly seen pinning down one person in the terrifying attack outside a luxury home in Formby, Merseyside. Owner Theodoro Tirimou said his Caucasian Shepherd, named Simba, ran out into the street after the wind blew the latch off his garden gate. "He is a guard dog, it was just his instinct to protect his family." Police also said they had not been made aware of the dog prior to Thursday's incident.
