Owners in deep end over cage-terror deaths of 12 catsWallis WangTwelve dead cats were found inside two plastic cages on a beach on Lamma yesterday. The cages, suspected to have been washed ashore, were locked and each contained six wet and decomposed carcasses. Last Friday, 12 microchipped dogs were seized by marine police during the largest sea smuggling case in Hong Kong this year. The 12 dogs, including a Labrador, three Pomeranians, two Yorkshire terriers, four poodles, a Maltese and a mixed breed, were found cramped in four plastic containers. The police are searching for their owners, who face prosecution, with the help of the agriculture, fisheries and conservation department.
