But in an interview after the speech, Premier Rob Lantz said cuts can be expected in the province's upcoming budget. Premier Rob Lantz says budget cuts are coming because the government can't continue to spend the way it has in the past. The throne speech also addressed P.E.I’s energy needs, stating "we can no longer rely on the energy systems of the past." The throne speech addressed, among other energy initiatives, a planned grid battery system for P.E.I.
