As of Friday, there are new restrictions on where people are permitted to talk to their MLA in Province House (aka “The People’s House”). Apart from the occasional boo or burst of applause, the ‘Black Out’ group visiting Province House might have been an adult choir. The visitors gallery on the third floor was already at capacity and the second floor was off limits. Two HRM police officers were on the main floor where visitors arrive and pass through a metal detector. Barkhouse said the decision to restrict public access on the second floor was made in consultation with government staff.
