The convention likewise aims to prohibit the development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, retention, transfer or use of chemical weapons by states parties. In explaining the country’s position, Ledda expressed the Philippines’ strong belief that international cooperation in the elimination of chemical weapons stockpiles and the nonproliferation of chemical weapons remain a continuing urgent concern.
