President William Ruto has announced that the government has committed Sh1.4 billion to complete Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. According to the president the construction of the 25,000-seat capacity facility will be complete by end of the year. The investment, he said, is part of our wider plan for Kakamega County, "where we have already committed Sh35 billion to accelerate development and improve livelihoods." "It will the largest in Western Kenya, and a strong base for sporting excellence," he stated. He spoke when he presided over the grand finale of Governor Barasa football tournament at Bukhungu Stadium.
