Differences of opinion are natural, and therefore must be managed in a spirit of mutual respect, understanding and consideration for one another. In December 2025, party vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the outcome of the special convention would be given due consideration, noting that the youth wing has the right to convene it. Earlier that month, Akmal announced that Umno Youth would hold a special convention to discuss the party's direction and its role in the unity government.
