Amritsar: Prime minister Narendra Modi met Afghan president Ashraf Ghani in the first engagement on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia ministerial conference on Sunday. The proposal entails transport of goods as air cargo between one or two cities in Afghanisan to one or two destinations in India. The Attari-Wagah border between India and Pakistan is less than 30km away from Amritsar. The bilateral air corridor project is expected to underline the larger theme of connectivity among the Heart of Asia countries. Modi and Ghani will jointly inaugurate the Heart of Asia conference later on Sunday when Kabul is expected to underscore India’s view on the importance of regional connectivity.
