Attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh have intensified since October 13 after an alleged blasphemy post surfaced on social media during Durga Puja celebrations. Prime Minister Hasina said, “Bangladesh cannot be taken back. Speaking during the inauguration of the Pera bridge in southern Bangladesh, Hasina said that “some sections with vested interests are spreading propaganda with the aim of creating communal divisions”. The Durga Puja celebrations, considered the biggest festival of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh, concluded without the traditional Bijoy Dashami procession. Police have so far arrested around 600 people from different parts of the country for inciting violence against Hindus during Durga Puja festival.
