“We want to build a Bangladesh where men and women will enjoy equal rights. The day is being observed this year with the theme “Today's Action, Tomorrow's Justice, Protect the Rights of Women and Girls”. In the message the PM said sustainable development of a country depends on women’s rights, education, health, security and participation in nation building activities. Tarique Rahman said during Shaheed Zia's regime, the 'Women's Affairs Department' was established. The PM wished a grand success of all programs undertaken on the occasion of International Women's Day.
