Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called on diplomats stationed in Dhaka to support Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Bangladesh’s candidate for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Cabinet members and members of parliament were also present. Prime minister’s wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman were also present at the time. Speaking at the event, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting human rights, safeguarding freedom of expression, and fostering a culture of tolerance. Before the iftar, the prime minister exchanged greetings with the diplomats and joined the communal prayer.
