Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone of Barmer Refinery-cum-Petrochemical complex some time in the second half of December. “The meeting will be chaired by the ACS Gupta and attended by mines and petroleum principal secretary Aparna Arora along with HPCL officials. Notably, the union minister for petroleum and natural gas, and skill development and entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan, who was in Jaipur in November, had informed that the refinery project has got environment clearance and the PM will lay the foundation stone any time next month, (December). After almost three years of negotiations, the state government signed a new MoU with HPCL in April this year for setting up the complex. Also, the state would receive 12 per cent return on investment instead of earlier 2 per cent mentioned in Gehlot’s agreement.
