PPBM withdraws suit against RoS on party registration


KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has withdrawn their originating summons to seek several declarations from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over the status of the party’s registration. Haniff said PPBM had withdrew the suit as the party had filed a leave application to initiate a judicial review to challenge RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim’s decision to temporarily dissolve PPBM. On Feb 22, PPBM through its secretary general Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh filed the suit naming RoS as defendant. (FIle pix)On Feb 22, PPBM secretary-general Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh on behalf of the party filed an originating summons to seek several declarations from the RoS over the status of the party’s registration. In the summons, the party claimed that since its establishment in September 2016, PPBM had been under the threat of deregistration by RoS for allegedly being non-compliant with the act.
