Apart from corruption, the ET&MC department is currently facing major complaints of nepotism, wherein many of the officers appear to be expressing dissatisfaction over the practice of junior officers receiving undue boons. The official opined that the appointment of junior officers to senior posts has created many problems, such as the disenfranchisement of senior officers as well as increased complications in administrative matters. Furthermore, he highlighted that the most pertinent issue which arises through these appointments of junior officers to senior posts is that of legal competence. In such cases, extra-legal measures can create problems for the department which are likely to affect the reputation of the department. As a result, the promoted officer, the director and other officers who endorsed his decisions, have started violating the law.
