Alvarado said 36 firefighters from Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and CAL FIRE responded after a second alarm was requested, and the fire was contained in about two hours. The fire destroyed approximately 100 palm trees and burned roughly 3.5 acres. Neighbors from the area adjacent to Prescott Preserve, along with volunteers from Oswit Land Trust, tour the fire-damaged section of the preserve with Palm Springs firefighters in the days after a Feb. 1 fire.
