There is no official breakdown of coronavirus cases by religion. The missionary gathering has been linked to at least 1,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, and more than 25,500 people connected to it have been quarantined. “There is a strong feeling of distrust in the Muslim community towards the establishment,” said Gyasuddin Shaikh, a Congress politician in Ahmedabad. Gatherings of the Tablighi Jamaat, an orthodox proselytising group, have been linked to major spreads of coronavirus cases across India, Malaysia and Pakistan.
