Prince, the late musician who died just one week after his final public concert in Atlanta, is being honoured with a custom shade of purple from the global colour authority, the Pantone Color Institute, and the Prince estate. Though we can expect a range of purple shades to be used in reference to Prince, Pantone’s Love Symbol #2 is the official shade of purple across the brand he left behind. Having a standardized colour allows for Prince’s purple to be consistently replicated across any branded products related to the artist. “The colour purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. Prince had worked closely with Yamaha to create the custom piano that inspired the colour Love Symbol #2.
