The latest child casualty, involving a student from Cosgrove Primary School, was on morning road patrol duty when they were struck by a car. Police said an “intermediate-aged child” with moderate injuries was “taken to hospital in a stable condition”. About 45 minutes drive south, a Northcote College student was struck shortly after while crossing Ōnewa Rd to school.
