Parties agree on new eviction date for Kg Segambut Permai squatters

A new eviction date has been agreed upon between Kampung Segambut Permai squatters in Kuala Lumpur with the developer after a rather dramatic stand-off between both parties when the latter came to bulldoze the houses on Christmas Eve. Residents managed to put a stop to it after the developer, Kemasekutu Sdn Bhd managed to tear down several unoccupied houses. It was then followed by the signing of an agreement between both parties that the residents will be evicted by Jan 6. "We received an offer letter by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) last Friday and the process to get the keys to our new location takes time. Residents were then offered temporary housing at the Public Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) around the city by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
