Passion won’t take a dive

PETALING JAYA: Diver Leong Mun Yee has made her last competitive plunge at the Tokyo Olympics but she is not walking away from the sport completely. Having been associated with the national diving team for more than two decades, Mun Yee wants to set up her own diving academy and train the next generation of divers. “I want to contribute in a different way as I won’t be diving anymore,” said Mun Yee, who at 36, made a historic fifth Olympics appearance for Malaysia in Tokyo. Pandelela-Mun Yee could only finish eighth in the competition as the United States and Mexico joined favourites China on the Olympics podium. Mun Yee took part in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
