It was a burning question — would the Canucks preserve Quinn Hughes’s expansion draft exemption by playing him in no more than 10 games this season? Was that the hockey gods simply intervening, handing the Canucks a bit of help two years ahead of schedule? A cynic might suggest the Canucks found a safe solution to a question that wouldn’t go away. The new question now is will Hughes’s ankle heal in time for him to play at all this season? The Canucks suggest he’ll be out about a week.
