Equality campaigners have expressed concerns about racist abuse of France players in the Russian stadium which will host a semi-final of the World Cup this summer. Fifa has opened an investigation after French players including Paul Pogba were racially abused by fans in a friendly against Russia in St Petersburg. Monkey chants could be heard in the stadium when black players touched the ball and the abuse was also audible on a TV broadcast after Pogba scored France’s second goal in a 3-1 win.
