The crash occurred on Lamplugh Road, Cockermouth, at 9.09pm yesterday (Saturday, March 14). The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, died at the scene. The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, is assisting Cumbria Police with an investigation. A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "The road was closed for a number of hours whilst a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
