NHS England, Diabetes UK and the JDRF have launched an interactive peer support tool for people living with type 1 diabetes. Hosted by Diabetes UK, the tool allows people to search a map of England to find a local peer support group. Peer support, alongside other support, has been shown to help people learn to live with their condition, giving them the confidence, knowledge and support required to manage the complexities of living with a long-term-condition. Groups supporting people living with, and affected by type 1, type 2, gestational and other types of diabetes can register their interest to be added. Professor Partha Kar, National Specialty Advisor for Diabetes at NHS England, said: “Good chronic disease care sits on the planks of self-management, peer support and access to trained professionals.
