Penang blames Fed govt for not fully implementing flood mitigation projects

The DAP-led state government today maintained that the Federal government had only spent RM443 million on flood mitigation projects in Penang from 2006 until now. "From the data provided, it is clear that many flood mitigation projects have not been fully implemented to alleviate Penang's flooding woes. "Zainal should not be hiding such important facts when unveiling the list of flood mitigation projects. Meanwhile, Chow said the state DID had identified 77 flood hotspots statewide since 2008, with flood mitigation projects been implemented in 28 hotspots while another 15 projects would commence by the year-end. He said with the implementation of flood mitigation projects in the 28 hotspots, they have seen less flash floods.
