He also warned the Bhumjaithai Party leader, who has stepped up his nationalist rhetoric, that using remarks by a foreign politician as campaign ammunition reflects political desperation rather than love of country. “I would like to reaffirm that patriotism, as understood by the People’s Party, means enabling the country to move forward, not freezing it within outdated structures,” he said. “Loving the nation must not mean cheating the nation.”
