IPOH: A snap state election in Perak is unlikely to happen anytime soon, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. The Mentri Besar said the state government still has time to continue its work and it is unlikely that he will seek to dissolve the state legislative assembly in the near future. “So, personally, I do not think there is a possibility of a state election,” he said, adding that there are procedures before elections are called. “Firstly, the Mentri Besar needs to have an audience with the Perak Sultan to propose a dissolution of the state legislative assembly. “If His Royal Highness does not agree, then the Mentri Besar is considered to have resigned.”The 15th Perak state election took place on Nov 19, 2022 to elect 59 members of the Perak State Legislative Assembly.
