Great bench play this season has in fact been one of the primary reasons for the Nuggets’ success. Although through the end of November the plus-minus of the Nuggets’ bench was a third-best +4.2, in the month of December that has dropped to 14th and into the negative at -0.4. Chiefly among those who the Nuggets need more from is Trey Lyles , whose struggles in shooting and other areas this season have rendered him the leading candidate for Denver’s most disappointing player thus far. While he does lead all bench scorers, both Morris and Beasley have surpassed him in both points and minutes over the last month. Last season Lyles had an effective field goal percentage of .562, with a 3-point percentage of .384, which for his position put him in the 60th and 74th percentiles, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.
