November 16, 2020 by Mihi Perera No CommentsA 28 year old resident of Kandy was arrested today (16) for posting purported images on social media platforms of bodies of individuals who passed away due to COVID-19, being found on the side of roads, stated the Sri Lanka Police. Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana refuted the claims that such deaths on roadsides have not occurred and stated that out of the 58 deaths reported in Sri Lanka, the only one who had passed away on a public road was a beggar who had no shelter. He further admonished that action will be taken against fake news spreading and the offenders will be produced in court.
