A former pro hockey player who owns a south-end fitness centre — and also coaches minor hockey — has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on Wednesday and was released on bail. McCormick owns Top Performance on The Parkway and had been the head coach of the Peterborough Minor Midget AAA Petes. McCormick grew up in Ennismore, playing minor hockey there before moving on to play in Peterborough’s AAA system, according to Top Performance’s website. After university, McCormick continued to play professional hockey for seven seasons in Germany and Sweden.
