Global oil prices rose sharply after Iran's response to US and Israeli airstrikes disrupted shipping, with diesel and petrol prices up by 48 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. Sinn Féin’s Finance spokesman Pearse Doherty claimed the meeting between Burke and fuel industry representatives “looks increasingly like a pointless exercise in political theatre”.
