The report warns that 80 per cent of the plastic ending up in the sea comes from the land. Food waste is also at unacceptably high levels with the world currently throws away a third of all food produced. Overall a quarter of all premature deaths and diseases worldwide are due to manmade pollution and environmental damage, the United Nations said.
