Players’ ban: FIDE nullifies NCF decision


Ebenezer BajelaChess world governing body (FIDE) has nullified the Nigeria Chess Federation decision to ban chess players, Bomo Kigigha and Austin Apemiye after the governing body said it was not satisfied with the disciplinary complaint brought forward by the NCF against the complainants. NCF headed by Olalekan Adeyemi banned Bomo and Austin on June 22 and 27 respectively for violation of the FIDE ethics. Both players were not satisfied and lodge their complains to FIDE who eventually looked into the matter and has however nullified the ban placed on the two chess players. In a communiqué sent by the FIDE ethics committee and made available to The PUNCH, both players are to with immediate effect carry on with their sporting activities. “The sanction imposed by the NCF on Mr. Bomo Kigigha on June 22, 2019 is hereby nullified with immediate effect.
