Prof. Alan Dershowitz maligns tens of thousands of America’s judges, prosecutors, defenders, probation and police officers, and the defendants themselves, by condemning plea agreements (“Most Plea Bargains Are Unconstitutional,” op-ed, Nov. 6). The purpose of trials is to resolve disputes over factual matters. Where there is no such dispute, there is no reason for a trial and, I can tell you from my experience on the bench that jurors don’t like wasting their time when there isn’t an issue.
