Congress, please raise my taxes. Proposed provisions of this plan make the problem even worse, by imposing new taxes on colleges and on graduate student incomes. The purpose of Reagan’s 1981 tax cut was a restructuring of the economy to better incentivize investment. Somalia offers a near-zero effective tax rate with the added benefits of sunny weather, gorgeous beaches, and loose controls on private arsenals. So, to the Banana Republicans in Congress, I issue this heartfelt request: Please raise my taxes.
