Plymouth City Council to appoint consultants to transform how it operatesSaving cash and reducing demand for services will be keyView Image Council-House, Plymouth (Image: Alison Stephenson)Plymouth City Council is employing consultants to help it change how it operates in order to save cash and reduce demand for services. The company will define the six to eight projects that will have the greatest impact in areas of biggest financial and service delivery challenges - adult social care, children’s services, SEND sufficiency, homelessness and home to school transport. Council leaders said they would need “full buy in” and not “cynicism” from employees to make it work. Plymouth City Council has been warned by auditors that it could be facing bankruptcy if it doesn’t reduce costs in these five key areas. The council would require a “cultural shift” and staff and councillors would have to think differently.
