The Niger State Police Command has arrested all officers assigned to audit and investigate allegations of arms dealing against a Divisional Police Officer, Abdullahi Isah. The command’s spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, told Saturday PUNCH that the audit team was detained for allegedly allowing Isah to commit suicide during the arms audit. Saturday PUNCH learnt that the audit team, acting on a tip-off, travelled from Abuja to Minna to conduct the routine annual audit of arms and ammunition. While the audit was ongoing, Isah allegedly shot himself in the head with a pistol he picked from his office, dying instantly. The audit is ongoing, and it is too early to conclude that such a number of arms are unaccounted for.
