The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the world's largest police organization, slammed stalled criminal justice reform negotiations in Congress, telling one powerful House Democrat to "quit playing politics with people’s lives." FOP National President Patrick Yoes sent a strongly worded letter on Friday to the chair of the House Appropriations Committee, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., regarding a recent draft of the House's criminal justice reform bill. Yates wrote that the House bill could "have a disastrous effect on the ability of law enforcement agencies nationwide to cope with the exploding violent crime rate."
