A statement read: "Today Lancashire Constabulary has been in liaison with Greater Manchester Police, the Aviation Authority and the Crown Prosecution Service regards the 'White Lives Matter' banner that was flown over the Etihad Stadium last night. It's now apparently racist to say white lives matter." Burnley were quick to condemn the actions shortly after the banner was flown over the Etihad as players from both teams took a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. We apologise unreservedly to the Premier League, Manchester City and all those helping to promote Black Lives Matter."
