Oikya Front, a broad-based political alliance of primarily four parties, attempted to go to the Central Shaheed Minar with a rally to protest the killing of Abrar Fahad. However, members of the law enforcement agencies put up a barricade while Oikya Front activists tried to launch the rally. At the same time, Oikya Front leaders and activists had to give up the event and eventually abandoned the planned rally. Earlier before the rally, Oikya Front leaders held a public discussion event at the auditorium of the National Press Club protesting the murder of Abrar.
