Police headquarters have been besieged by the Shaheed Pintu Smriti Sangsad, demanding the resignation of Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam. The organisation’s rally towards the police headquarters was blocked near Government Employees Hospital at 4pm on Thursday. “They stayed for half an hour. We convinced them, and they left without any conflict,” said Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Ramna Division. The Pintu Smriti Sangsad was formed in memory of Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu, who was arrested after the BDR mutiny and died in prison.
