Police say groups arrived in District ‘intent on clashing’ as they assess violent end to Trump rallies


ADShortly before 8 p.m., members of the extremist group the Proud Boys and other Trump supporters moved through downtown in the area of 12th and F streets NW. ADIt was not clear whether the groups, which were blocks apart, were initially aware of each other’s location. Eight firearms were seized and five people were arrested on gun charges, including two Newsham said were linked to a Georgia-based militia group. There were still sporadic clashes that appeared isolated, some outside hotels where Trump supporters were staying. Many ducked into the Trump International Hotel, as a few people with the banner continued on into the now-quiet night.
